The National Sculpture Endowment is pleased to announce the 2006-2007 gold medal award is given to sculptors and philanthropists Brian Gazeley and Joseph Landry for their contributions to public art and aid to private and public foundations over the past year. Most notably the donation of Cornerstone of the Nation to the Mount Vernon Ladies association and the home of George Washington and the NSE Lincoln Bicentennial sculpture. The Lincoln Bicentennial commission was awarded to Gazeley and Landry in July 2006 who in a surprise move pledged a one million dollar contribution of public art with the Lincoln piece being donated and duplicated for the nation. The announcement came as a surprise at the meeting in May 2007. We are pleased to announce that they had been selected as gold medal winners prior to the surprise gift; unfortunately they cannot win consecutively so we honor their contributions with heart-felt gratitude.
